Investment

It helps to understand a few basics before you invest. Here is some simple information.

What is a mutual fund?

The money of many investors is pooled and invested in shares, bonds or other instruments. Fund managers do this work. The value of the investment goes up and down with the market.

SIP and lump sum investing

In a SIP a fixed amount is invested every month. In a lump sum a large amount is invested at once. Both have different benefits and risks.

Decide your goal first

Whether it is your child's education, a house, retirement or any other goal, once you decide how much you need and in how many years, it becomes easier to decide the amount and the period of investing.

Understand the risk

Every investment carries risk. An option with a higher possible return also carries higher risk. Think about how much risk you are ready to take and for how long you will invest.

Tax rules change from time to time. Talk to your tax expert before you decide anything about tax. Mutual fund investments are subject to market risks. Read all scheme related documents carefully.
